Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian authorities, in particular the government, are working to resolve the problem with imported aircraft engines. Dmitry Peskov made this statement in response to a request to comment on S7 Airlines plans to reduce the number of flights due to problems with imported engines.
“This is a topic that is constantly on the agenda of our aviation authorities. The government is taking measures, this topic is extremely important for us, taking into account our geography, transport accessibility of the regions is also one of the absolute priorities,” Dmitry Peskov said at the briefing.
Earlier, Kommersant, citing sources, reported that S7 Airlines could reduce its autumn-winter flight schedule by 10–15% compared to last year due to problems with maintenance of the Airbus A320/A321neo. The American P&W engines that are used on these aircraft are not repaired either in Russia or in Iran. According to Kommersant’s interlocutors, 13 of the company’s 39 such aircraft are under maintenance.
