The Russian government has lifted the ban on the export of summer diesel fuel due to the saturation of the domestic market, reports press service of the Ministry of Energy.
“The Government of the Russian Federation has decided to lift the temporary ban on the export of summer diesel fuel, introduced on September 21 as part of a set of measures to stabilize the price situation on the domestic motor fuel market. Over the past two months, while maintaining high volumes of oil refining at the refinery, the domestic market has been saturated with commercial diesel fuel of all grades and motor gasoline, including in the exchange sales channel,” the department explained.
As the ministry clarified, the decision to lift the ban was made “in order to prevent unloading of oil refineries and ensure high volumes of production of popular types of fuel – commercial motor gasoline and winter grades of diesel fuel, as well as taking into account the declining price situation on the domestic market.” “Monitoring of production and price indicators is maintained with the aim of possibly taking prompt measures to supply the domestic market with fuel,” the Ministry of Energy added.
On September 21, the Russian government introduced a ban on the export of gasoline and diesel fuel. The purpose of the embargo was to saturate the domestic market with fuel and reduce prices, which reached a new maximum in September.
