The government has decided to gradually return the technical regulations in the automotive industry until February 1, 2024. Existing easing will be phased out. In particular, since December of this year, the installation of ABS will return to the mandatory requirements for the production of cars. The document was published on the official portal legal information.
“The deadlines for presenting new safety requirements have been agreed with the largest Russian vehicle manufacturers, taking into account their technical capabilities and readiness to assume obligations to equip manufactured vehicles with the appropriate systems,” the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.
According to the government decree, the deadline for the import of cars by individuals without an SOS button has been extended until February 1, 2024. At the same time, legal entities and individual entrepreneurs will continue to connect to the Era-Glonass system. In addition, from June 1, 2023, cars manufactured in Russia must comply with the environmental standard of at least Euro-2.
The government has simplified the technical regulations for the production of cars on May 16, 2022. In particular, it was allowed to produce Euro-0 standard cars in Russia (cars with exhaust according to 1988 standards), as well as cars without ABS and airbags. The measures were permissive.
