The government approved a roadmap for a three-year period for organizing the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the Kamchatka Territory. According to the order published on the official Internet portal legal information, 12 billion rubles will be allocated for the construction of coastal infrastructure.
According to the roadmap, in the first quarter of 2024, Gazprom must conclude an agreement for the supply of LNG from Sakhalin-2 to Kamchatka. As Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin clarified at a government meeting, in order to transfer Kamchatka to LNG consumption, it is planned to create berths and a gas reception complex in the Rakovaya Bay of the Avacha Bay. The commissioning of the infrastructure is planned for the first quarter of 2025.
In addition, it is planned to build a floating terminal for receiving LNG and offshore gas carriers. “The implementation of the plans outlined will help the implementation of the social gasification program so that heat and hot water are in the homes of local residents without interruptions and, of course, at affordable prices,”— said Mr Mishustin.
Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to approve the roadmap for LNG supplies to Kamchatka in September 2022. In particular, he called for the development of a resource base for production and supply at a price not exceeding the FAS.
