From April 1, 2023, the rules for mandatory labeling of keg-packed beer, including non-alcoholic beer, will come into effect in Russia. From October 1 next year, labeling standards will apply to beer in glass and polymer packaging.
“Establish… in relation to beer and low-alcohol drinks packed in kegs from April 1, 2023; in relation to beer and low-alcohol drinks packed in glass or polymer consumer packaging – from October 1, 2023,” the government decree says, published on portal legal information.
In July, representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade reportedthat from October 1, 2023, Russia will start labeling beer in glass and PET containers, and from January 15, 2024, in aluminum cans. From April 1, 2021 to August 31, 2022, beer in Russia was labeled in an experimental format. As part of the experiment, a special Data Matrix code was applied to the goods. It can be used to track the movement of goods from the factory to the buyer.
