The government allowed the RKN to block sites with methods for circumventing restrictions

The Russian government has given Roskomnadzor the authority to include sites that contain information about methods and means of bypassing blocking of online resources into the Unified Register of Prohibited Information. The resolution was published on the official Internet portal legal information.
Draft resolution according to which RKN receives the right to block such sites, September 3 presented Ministry of Digital Development. In July, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on entering into the Unified Register of Prohibited Information data on ways to bypass blocking of online resources.
In September Roskomnadzor prepared draft order on the criteria for prohibiting the distribution of materials with methods of bypassing blocking. The criteria, according to the document, should be valid from March 1, 2024 to September 1, 2029.
