The cost of the Greek “golden visa” for foreign investors will be increased from €250,000 to €500,000 (or 30 million rubles). This was announced by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
“In order to increase the availability of real estate for Greeks, we are now increasing the minimum investment amount for issuing a Golden Visa residence permit from €250,000 to €500,000,” said Mr. Mitsotakis.
According to the newspaper Ethnosunder the Golden Visa program, 1,035 properties were sold for €250,000 in 2021, 938 in 2020, and 3,535 in 2019. The amount of investments attracted to Greece in 2021 under the Golden Visa program amounted to €3 billion
The UK is the leader in terms of investments attracted with the help of golden visas in 2021. Under this program, the country’s economy received €8 billion. The minimum investment to obtain such a visa in the UK is €2.4 million.
