The level of gas consumption in Germany is in a critical range, the goal of saving has not been achieved. About it informs German Federal Network Agency (BNA).
From the data of the report it follows that gas consumption in Germany from November 28 to December 11 was 12% lower than the reference value over the past four years. The indicator does not exceed 15%, therefore it is in a critical range, the agency noted.
BNA reported that gas consumption from December 5 to 11 was 5.2% below the average consumption over the past four years, but up 11.8% from the previous week. “The goal of savings has clearly not been achieved,” the report states.
At the same time, the agency said that gas supplies to Germany are currently stable, and their safety is guaranteed. However, the BNA noted that they assess the situation as tense and do not exclude its further deterioration.
The total occupancy of gas storage facilities in Germany is 91.26%. The occupancy rate at the country’s largest storage facility, Reden, is 91.28%, according to the report.
A significant increase in consumption should be expected this week in Germany, as the temperature forecast is in the critical range of 3.18 ° C, the agency said.
Yesterday, December 14, the head of the BNA, Klaus Müller, in an interview with the TV channel ZDF said that Germany is very far from a gas shortage. According to him, filling the storage facilities will allow Germany to cope with three weeks of cold with increased gas consumption. The agency’s stated goal for the winter is to save 20% of the average consumption of previous years.
