The leader of the Alternative for Germany faction, Leif-Erik Holm, sent a request to the government about the possibility of launching Nord Stream 2 after the damage. The government replied that there was no such possibility.

“It is very likely that the act of sabotage with strong explosions had a negative impact on both pipeline strings, so there is currently no technical availability,” the government said in a response (quoted from Der Spiegel).

The Alternative for Germany party considers the government’s course towards energy independence from Russia to the detriment of the country’s interests to be wrong. Holm’s party is in favor of restarting Nord Stream 2. According to the politician, the government allegedly hopes that the situation with the gas pipeline will “resolve itself.”

On September 26, pressure dropped on the Nord Stream lines, gas leaks occurred. Russia and the West called sabotage the cause of the emergency. According to the Swedish state security service and the Danish police, the incident occurred due to explosions.
