The Italian banking group Intesa Sanpaolo wants to sell its subsidiary bank in Russia – JSC “Bank ”Intesa”” – to the structures of Gazprombank. This is reported Frank Media citing sources close to both parties to the deal. According to one of them, the deal may not take place “due to the difficult negotiating position of the Italian side.” The publication does not provide the amount of the transaction and any details.
In October, Intesa Bank was included in the list of credit institutions approved by President Vladimir Putin, whose capital can be withdrawn by non-residents from “unfriendly” countries only with special permission. In November, Interfax sources reportedthat the bank could buy out the Russian management headed by Antonio Fallico. It was about the acquisition of 100% of the shares for a symbolic amount.
