The Strigo Capital fund, co-founded by the founder of the MyOffice developer Dmitry Komissarov, the former vice-governor of St. Petersburg Eduard Batanov and the owner of Fplus Alexey Melnikov, bought from Fplus the developer of programs for the Aurora operating system – Avroid LLC and systems virtualization – Hyperus LLC. Market participants believe that the change of ownership was required to promote products among Fplus competitors.

The developer of the emulator for Android applications under the Aurora OS and the Telegram analogue “Tavro” LLC “Avroid” became the property of the “Strigo Capital” fund on April 4, discovered “Kommersant” in “SPARK-Interfax”. Previously, the LLC belonged to the electronics developer Fplus. Also, Strigo Capital received from Fplus LLC Hyperus, which is developing a virtualization system (an environment that allows you to run isolated processes, for example, activate several operating systems on one computer).

OOO “Avroid” and LLC “Hyperus” registered in January 2023 in Svetlogorsk, Kaliningrad region. IT holding Fplus bought the company in May last year from Oksana Cherdintseva. Both LLCs are headed by Eduard Batanov (see Kommersant, May 5, 2023).

Founders of the fund “Strigo Capital” speakers include the founder of the IT developer “MyOffice” Dmitry Komissarov, the former vice-governor of St. Petersburg Eduard Batanov and the owner of Fplus Alexey Melnikov; the fund was created in mid-2023 (see “Kommersant” dated June 13, 2023).

Dmitry Komissarov explained to Kommersant that the LLC “initially should have come under the management of the fund,” but then “legal aspects had not yet been settled” in its structure, so “Avroid” and “Hyperus” received Fplus.

“Over the course of a year, the fund managed to raise the necessary amount of capital to support a team of developers of Kaliningrad companies,” Mr. Komissarov clarified. He added that after the companies came under the control of the fund, Fplus received funds invested in the purchase of organizations. Dmitry Komissarov did not disclose the amount.

F-Plus Equipment and Development LLC remains a majority shareholder in Avroid and technically nothing changes, says a representative of the Fplus IT holding: “When Avroid was purchased, we stated that the company would make developments for all market participants, this is the position is preserved.”

According to Mr. Komissarov, both LLCs “will continue to develop, including the development of native programs for the Aurora OS on order.” He added that this direction, together with the sale of the license for the Avroid platform by the end of the year, will allow Avroid to “demonstrate profitability.” Fplus introduced the Avroid program, which allows you to run any Android applications on the Aurora OS, last fall (see “Kommersant” dated September 11, 2023).

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Basalt SPO Alexey Smirnov believes that a change in the ownership of the companies will make them “equidistant from different electronics manufacturers.” “Many third-party electronics manufacturers might be wary of cooperating with Avroid due to its affiliation with their direct competitor Fplus,” Mr. Smirnov emphasized. In his opinion, the transactions could also mean “intensification of the functioning of the Strigo Capital fund.”

At the same time, Kommersant’s interlocutor among application developers is confident that Avroid and Hyperus are now “unable to make a profit due to the lack of demand for devices with Russian mobile OS.” “We shouldn’t expect positive results from a financial point of view from Avroid and Hyperus in the coming year,” he believes. According to Kommersant’s source, “the only chance to recoup investments in these assets is to wait for large tenders for devices on the Aurora OS in the public sector and business.”
