The Foreign Ministry called the words of the head of Carlsberg about the “theft” of Russian business unfounded

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova called the position of the head of the Danish brewing company Carlsberg Group Jacob Aarup-Andersen untenable. Previously, he announced the “theft” of the holding’s Russian assets.

“The statements by the head of the concern look like an attempt to cover up with decisions of the Russian authorities Carlsberg’s intention to leave the Russian market, simultaneously bankrupting Russian companies and withdrawing all profits earned in Russia. Aarup-Andersen’s anti-Russian accusations are unfounded and do not correspond to the status of the head of an international concern,” says the message on website Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Maria Zakharova added that Mr. Aarup-Andersen’s words have “nothing to do with reality,” since the Baltika company is not owned by the state.

On October 31, the head of the Carlsberg Group said that Russia “stole” part of the business and the company “is not going to help make it look legitimate.” On the same day at the Russian Ministry of Finance answeredthat the Baltika company is not state-owned and the introduction of temporary management “does not entail a change in the ownership structure.”

On October 3, Carlsberg announced the termination of its licensing agreement with the Baltika brewing company. She called the move a response to President Vladimir Putin’s decree, which provides for the “effective nationalization” of Carlsberg’s Russian assets.
