The volume of the Russian market of fitness services by the end of 2022 will be approximately 145.3 billion rubles. against 130 billion a year earlier. This assessment was given to Vedomosti by Elena Silina, President of the National Fitness Community (NFS, which unites 2,000 fitness clubs from 80 regions). Olga Kiseleva, President of the Association of Russian Fitness Industry Operators (AOFI, which includes 1500 companies from 76 cities of the Russian Federation) and the head of World Gym in Russia, Olga Kiseleva, also speaks about the fact that this segment in terms of money has grown by almost 12% over the year. But this market has not yet reached pre-pandemic indicators. At the end of 2019, the NSF estimated its annual volume at 167 billion rubles.

At the same time, in the first year of the coronavirus epidemic, the performance of players in this sector fell by 30%, according to Kiselev’s FitnessData analytical agency. 35% of players were able to return to or exceed the turnover of 2019, says Silina. According to her, despite the crisis, companies are growing at a fast pace, adapting to the new demands of the audience for “short products” – monthly, weekly, and sometimes minute-by-minute subscriptions. This was also helped by the development of the sharing economy. According to Silina, instead of issuing a club card, the consumer now purchases a monthly subscription from the aggregator company with the opportunity to visit various fitness facilities. The profitability of this business, according to Kiseleva, remains low – it varies from zero to 2-3%.
