Sochi Airport received the first passenger flight on Tu-214 after the restart of their flights. A Red Wings airline plane flying from Zhukovsky airport in the Moscow region was greeted with a water arch.

The load on the first flight was more than 90%, Sochi Airport reported. “We are glad that the first passenger flight of the updated Russian Tu-214 was carried out in Sochi. And starting next week, the plane will carry out an international flight program from Domodedovo Airport to Yerevan, Batumi, and later to Tel Aviv,” the airport’s message on Telegram says.

Red Wings received the Tu-214 at the end of 2023. It was produced in 2009 and was used by Transaero airlines until 2017. In mid-December 2023, the aircraft received a new certificate after being restored to airworthiness. Recently, the Tu-214 was operated only by the Rossiya SLO, which mainly serves government delegations.
