Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Viktor Evtukhov said that the first sporting goods stores under the Desport brand in place of the outlets of the French Decathlon chain that left the country are planned to open in the last week of November – early December.

“The first stores will open in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and then in other cities of Russia. About 30 stores are planned to open by the end of the year. Stores will open gradually, as the assortment is formed and goods arrive,” the official said TASS.

Decathlon suspended work in Russia in March 2022. At the end of July 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that the chain had found a buyer for all its stores in Russia; it was the Russian company ARM (which owns Mango franchises). It was about the sale of 36 Decathlon facilities located in Russia – 35 stores and a warehouse.

October 31 AWP reported about the launch of the Desport chain, whose stores will open in place of Decathlon. The company plans to expand the range of sports stores through both its own brands and other well-known brands. Desport also plans to open its online store in the near future.
