In Moscow, the first Swed House store, the Belarusian analogue of IKEA, opened in the Schelkovsky shopping and entertainment center, informs TASS.

The goods presented in the store are produced in factories that previously collaborated with IKEA.

February 27, 2023 TASS with reference to the President of the Union of Shopping Centers Bulat Shakirov informedthat 10 Swed House stores may open in Moscow in 2023. He added that in the coming years the number of stores will increase to 50. Then Shakirov also announced that negotiations were underway so that Swed House would become a tenant of Mega shopping centers.

Swed House has factories in Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan and China. The company produces household goods, furniture and textiles. The assortment is similar to the products of IKEA, which left Russia, and some products are even cheaper than those of the Swedish retailer, Shakirov drew attention. He added that the union has already received more than 100 requests from shopping centers that are interested in hosting Swed House.

On March 4, 2022, IKEA temporarily closed stores in Russia amid a Russian special operation in Ukraine, logistical problems and sanctions. In mid-June, it became known that the company was looking for buyers for its four factories in Russia, as well as reducing staff and selling off the rest of the goods.
