The first fully Russian electric train “Lastochka” was built in the Urals

The Ural Locomotives plant (part of Sinara Transport Machines) for the first time built the Lastochka electric train entirely from Russian parts. Vitaly Brekson, the first deputy general director for technological policy of the enterprise, announced this on his page on VKontakte.
At the moment, the electric train is being prepared for dynamic tests. “Each new locomotive or train is like a child …. they are waiting for him, he is born, then begins to live in this world, gradually stepping into it. Thanks to all factory workers and our co-developers and success on this path and many other, I hope, paths. And patience to passengers and operators,” said Vitaly Brekson (quote from RIA Novosti).
“Lastochka” is planned to be presented in July at the industrial exhibition “Innoprom” in Yekaterinburg, RIA “Novosti” reported about this “Sinara – Transport Machines” (STM). The company clarified that at the exhibition, visitors will be shown the general concept of the new composition.
CTM announced plans to create a domestic analogue of Lastochka in 2022 at Innoprom. Then the representatives of the company said that the new electric train would become “even more comfortable than the Lastochkas, which the Russians love so much”. It will be equipped with USB sockets for charging gadgets, new warning systems, racks for scooters and bicycles with the ability to recharge, as well as a bistro car. The upgraded composition of the Lastochka can accommodate 1.4 thousand people and is designed for transportation over a distance of 100–300 km.
STM is a joint venture between the Sinara Group and the German concern Siemens, established in 2010. In May 2022, a foreign company decided to wind down its business in Russia. The Sinara Group brings together enterprises from various industries. Among the main assets of the group are the Sinara – Transport Machines holding, Ural Locomotives (JV of the group and the Siemens concern), Sinara Bank, Sinara Development.
The exhibition “Innoprom-2023” will be held from 10 to 13 July at the IEC “Ekaterinburg-Expo”. The partner country will be the Republic of Belarus. At the exhibition, it is planned to present new technologies in the field of automation of production processes, transport engineering, as well as talk about relevant technologies for cities.
