Sberbank (MOEX: SBER) has connected the first foreign bank to its payment platform using a QR code, said the head of the credit institution, German Gref, on the sidelines of the Finopolis-2023 forum. According to him, almost 40 million transactions are made using a QR code every month.
“Recently, the first foreign bank connected to the QR code payment platform from Sber. Currently, eight Russian banks have already been connected to our platform, and by the end of the year we plan to connect three or four more banks,” said Mr. Gref.
German Gref noted that expanding the number of partners will help increase the audience of the service and the turnover of payments by QR code. According to Sberbank, almost 40 million transactions are made monthly using a QR code. The number of monthly users of the service is almost 10 million people.
Sberbank launched payment by QR code in 2019. It is available to clients via SberPay or through SBP. To pay, you need to scan the graphic code on the terminal screen, go to the payment page in the browser, select the payment method, and in which bank application to complete the transaction. When paying using SberPay, the client will be redirected to the Sberbank Online application.
