Russia’s first federal educational center for training in piloting unmanned aerial vehicles has opened in the Moscow industrial park Rudnevo. The center will be jointly managed by the Russian Drone Racing Federation and Rostelecom.
According to “RIA News”, anyone can take training at the new center in the drone piloting program. In the near future, the center plans to train more than one million specialists.
“First of all, we would like to support the creation of a new branch of the economy – we have no doubt that it will be an industry – new areas of life, to support new people who will develop this industry,” said Rostelecom President Mikhail Oseevsky during the opening of the center. . According to the Russian Federation of Drone Racing, the process of learning to control a UAV is about 240 hours; in the near future, pilot training will be “put on stream.”
At the beginning of July this year, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov instructed regional authorities to develop programs for the development of unmanned aircraft systems. It is expected that by the end of 2023 a program will be created to legalize the use of drones. The Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Transport and the Federal Air Transport Agency are preparing to take drones out of the gray zone.
On April 27, a meeting on the development of unmanned aircraft was held with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Head of State named this industry is “the most important activity of the country” and estimated its volume at 1 trillion rubles, and also proposed starting to teach how to control drones in Russian schools.
Representatives of unmanned aviation report that over the year the demand for specialists in this field has at least doubled. There are currently 2–3 thousand vacancies open, and up to 25 thousand people are employed in the industry. However, the average salary has increased slightly and is about 115 thousand rubles. Experts interviewed by Kommersant note that demand is created mainly by state defense orders, and raise the question of the demand for specialists after the end of hostilities.
