The Russian comedy “Going” topped the box office in Russia and the CIS last weekend, collecting 135.6 million rubles in two days, according to the portal kinobusiness.com. The film by Anton Maslov is based on the true story of blogger Anna Smolina, who in 2017, together with her dachshund, rode a bicycle across Russia.
The top 5 in terms of fees included:
- “Went” (135.6 million rubles);
- drama “Nuremberg” (64.5 million rubles);
- comedy “Unprincipled in the countryside” (59.5 million rubles);
- drama “The Righteous” (45.4 million rubles);
- comedy “Cheburashka” (27.6 million rubles).
Head of the Ministry of Culture Olga Lyubimova spokethat in January-February film collections in Russia amounted to 13.1 billion rubles. This is a record figure in the history of Russian film distribution, which exceeded the box office for the entire pre-pandemic year of 2019 (11.7 billion rubles). This amount was largely achieved thanks to “Cheburashka”which became the highest-grossing film in the history of Russian film distribution.
