The Federation Council Committee on Social Policy proposed to the Central Bank to limit the acquiring rate (fee to banks for non-cash transactions) to 1% for travel agencies and hotels. This was reported TASS with reference to the recommendations following the round table of the committee on measures to ensure the stable operation of enterprises and organizations in the tourism industry.
As Ilya Umansky, President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, noted, representatives of the tourism industry, including tour booking organizations, are dissatisfied with the rates of “acquiring domestically for hotel services.”
In March 2022, to support the most affected industries, the Central Bank limited the maximum acquiring commission to 1% from each transaction from April 18 to August 31. Now the acquiring rate for the tourism industry is in the range of 1.45–1.8%, sometimes reaching 2.2%.
