The Federal Tax Service intends to file a bankruptcy claim against the Polish PGNiG – Kommersant

Inspectorate No. 36 of the Federal Tax Service (FTS) for Moscow decided to apply to the Arbitration Court of the capital for bankruptcy of the Polish energy company PGNiG. The tax authority posted the corresponding message on the Fedresurs portal, drawing attention Interfax.
“The Inspectorate of the Federal Tax Service No. 36 for the city of Moscow made a decision to apply to the Arbitration Court of the city of Moscow with a bankruptcy petition for JSC Polish Oil and Gas Industry,” says the Fedresurs card. The information about the debtor contains identifiers that, according to open sources, relate to PGNiG, that is, to a foreign legal entity, Interfax notes.
In April 2022, the Polish authorities refused to pay for Russian gas in rubles, after which Gazprom stopped gas supplies to PGNiG. The Russian government then introduced counter-sanctions against Europol Gaz (a joint venture between Gazprom and PGNiG). In May 2022, Gazprom announced that it would no longer use the Polish section of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline. In October 2023, Polish authorities handed over a section of the gas pipeline under the control of the Orlen oil concern. It was alleged that Europol Gaz, which controls the gas pipeline, would buy out the 48% stake owned by Gazprom.
