The head of the department of trade restrictions, currency and export control of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia, Sergei Shklyaev, said that barter transactions in foreign trade are not fully used. He called on participants in foreign economic activity to increase the use of this type of transactions.
“Today, according to the law, you can safely use the barter type of foreign economic transactions and carry out mutual fulfillment of obligations under contracts. Yes, perhaps this type of transaction is not fully used today,” Mr. Shklyaev said during the International Customs Forum (quoted from “RIA News”).
Sergei Shklyaev noted that the FCS, in turn, tried to further convey to participants in foreign economic activity the advantages of barter transactions. “Once again we urge you to actively use barter transactions,” he added.
For the expansion of barter in international trade in early October spoke Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov. In his opinion, the barter mechanism could become one of the options for moving away from paying in dollars in international trade.
