The Federal Air Transport Agency is working on adjusting the route network of airlines to maintain subsidized flights to the most socially significant destinations. This is due to the “financing optimization” of the subsidy program.

“When revising the route network, airlines are recommended to proceed from the principle of effective redistribution of budgetary funds and maintaining an acceptable level of air transportation availability,” follows from the press service of the Federal Air Transport Agency in Telegram.

Today, May 4, Izvestia sources reportedthat the Russian government has reduced funding for the program of regional transportation around Moscow from 9 billion to about 7.5 billion rubles. According to the newspaper, the decision was made in connection with the “sequestering of state budget expenditures.” At the same time, in 2022, the share of flights bypassing Moscow for the first time reached 50%.

The subsidy program, launched to offset the costs of domestic air carriers, has been in place since April 2022. About its extension in April 2023 informed Ministry of Transport. According to the agency, the total amount of funds allocated for all programs for this year exceeds 50 billion rubles. Earlier in April, it became known that the Association of Air Transport Operators (AEVT) applied to the Ministry of Transport with a proposal to consider extending the subsidy to air carriers by 100 billion rubles. until October.
