The legendary “Unusual Concert” opened the 92nd season of the Theater. S. Obraztsova. The past season turned out to be fruitful: the playbill of the theater was decorated with the play “I am Sergey Obraztsov” directed by Ekaterina Obraztsova, where the role of the founder of the theater was played by Yevgeny Tsyganov, who is his distant relative. Now the audience is waiting for another promising event – the director of musicals Alexei Frandetti has been invited to the production.

The premiere will take place in December on the big stage. Aleksey Frandetti, newly appointed chief director of Lenkom, will stage for the first time a puppet show, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, on which he is working with Ural puppeteer Viktor Plotnikov and composer Andrei Rubtsov. A live orchestra will participate in the performance, and the actors will sing.

“It is a great honor for me to continue the line of British literature on the stage of the Obraztsov Theater – the line of Peter Pan and Shakespeare – with my favorite Dickens,” said Alexey Frandetti. “I’m terribly worried, but it’s always interesting to do something that you’ve never done before.”

A little earlier, on the big stage, Viktor Nikonenko will release the play “Playing Shakespeare”, the action of which will unfold in the theater. The characters will be actors rehearsing the roles of Hamlet, Othello, Romeo, Juliet and other Shakespearean heroes. At the gathering of the troupe, Viktor Nikonenko said: “In our performance, each of the artists will have several Shakespearean roles, small benefit performances. We will try to prove that we are real actors and a little Shakespearean.”

The theater’s chief director Boris Konstantinov and chief artist Viktor Antonov will release a new version of the New Year’s Expedition in Obraztsovpark called “In the Footsteps of the Black Rabbit”, where the audience will feel like participants in the action. And Ekaterina Obraztsova with artist Alexandra Pavlova will stage “The Ant” for the smallest spectators.

September 16 marks the 85th anniversary of the Museum of the Puppet Theatre. S.V. Obraztsova. By this date, the exhibition “Dolls Keeping Time” was opened in the theater foyer. It presents previously unexhibited exhibits from the funds. There are over forty of them. Museum employees are preparing “TUZLUKOV Vernissage” from the works of artists from various puppet theaters of the country and neighboring countries. Its name is associated with the name of Boris Tuzlukov, who worked as the chief artist of the Obraztsov Theater from 1936 to 1970. The museum wants to revive the tradition of the 1970s and celebrate the Artist’s Day with an exhibition of works by the theater staff. So it was in the days of Sergei Obraztsov.

In November, the festival of children’s amateur groups “Image” and the art laboratory “Puppeteer – the first step” will be held on the stage of the theater. And on September 16, part of the team went on tour to Syktyvkar. Further trips to Ulan-Ude, Tula, Zelenograd, Baku, Ufa, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Kaluga and even Iran and Belarus are coming.

At the end of the 92nd season, the famous clock that adorns the facade of the theater, which has become its symbol, and to which dozens of people flock at a certain hour, will be stopped for a year. A serious reconstruction is coming, after which the watch is promised a new life and unprecedented opportunities.
