Mikhail Zadornov, Chairman of the Board of Otkritie Bank, will leave his position from the beginning of 2023. VTB confirmed information “Kommersant” that his place will be taken by the ex-head of Unicredit Bank, former deputy chairman of the board of the Central Bank Mikhail Alekseev.
“We are grateful to him for the work he has done. Mikhail Alekseev will be nominated for the position of Chairman of the Board. We expect that there will also be big changes in the composition of the board,” a VTB representative told reporters (quoted from “Interfax”).
The Bank of Russia and VTB signed an agreement on the sale of 100% of the shares of FC Otkritie. The purchase price will be 340 billion rubles. RUB 233.1 billion will be paid in cash. RUB 106.8 billion – federal bonds. Ownership will be transferred to VTB no later than December 31, 2022.
The fact that Mr. Alekseev could head the bank was previously reported by Kommersant’s sources. They said that VTB expects to integrate Otkritie into its structure in a year and a half, and at least for this time the latter needs a chairman of the board, who is not directly related to either one or another bank. The appointment of Mr. Alekseev was initiated by VTB, the Central Bank supported the candidacy.
More information about the appointment – in the material “Kommersant” “”Opening” a new chapter”.
