European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson said that the European Union stopped importing coal from Russia, and also reduced imports of Russian oil by 90%. Mrs. Simson did not give figures on gas imports from Russia.
“The EU has stopped coal imports from Russia, eliminated 90% of Russian oil imports, and pipeline gas supplies have dropped significantly. Our storage facilities are relatively full, but work to fill them up for the next heating season should start now,” Kadri Simson tweeted.
Since August, a ban has been introduced on the import of coal from Russia to the European Union. From December 5 to February 5, there is a price ceiling for offshore deliveries of Russian oil and oil products, introduced by the European Union, the G7 countries and Australia. The European Union also imposed an embargo on the import of these resources from the Russian Federation. Against the backdrop of a reduction in gas supplies from Russia, the EU countries increased their imports of LNG from the United States.
