Petr Zelenov, director of the new film adaptation of The Twelve Chairs, has announced that actor Dmitry Nazarov will not participate in the filming of the film. Scenes with the participation of Mr. Nazarov, who was supposed to play Kisa Vorobyaninov, will be re-shot with a different actor.
“We didn’t shoot so much to reshoot, there’s nothing complicated about it,” Petr Zelenov told RIA Novosti. He connected his decision with the political position of Dmitry Nazarov, who sharply criticizes the policy of the Russian leadership towards Ukraine.
“I am with the president, with Russia, so I am even happy somewhere. I will find someone to shoot, ”said the director. He said that Mr. Nazarov’s statements were a “big discovery” and a “blow” for him.
A new film adaptation of the novel by Ilya Ilf and Evgeny Petrov is due out in 2023. On January 14, it became known that Dmitry Nazarov was fired from the Moscow Art Theatre. Chekhov, where he has worked since 2003. The dismissal of the artist is associated with his political position. After the dismissal, other actors began to play the roles of Mr. Nazarov – it is known that Woland in The Master and Margarita instead of him will play Anatoly Kot.
