Russia does not need to seek the inclusion of its national dishes in the UNESCO list, such an opinion was expressed by Grigory Ordzhonikidze, executive secretary of the Russian commission for this organization.
According to him, this should be delayed.
“First of all, Russia is not a party to the 2003 convention for the protection of the intangible cultural heritage, under which such lists are maintained,” the diplomat explained.
He added that there is no need to “sink after the Ukrainians” to such “small-scale and opportunistic”. The diplomat noted that in spite of everything, Russia is rich in recognized culinary masterpieces with their own cooking characteristics.
Earlier, the culture of cooking Ukrainian borscht was included in the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List.
