The Labinsk City Court satisfied the claim of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation to turn over the assets of the Pokrovsky concern to the state, one of the participants in the process told Kommersant on condition of anonymity. The supervisory agency claims that the beneficiary of the concern, Andrei Korovayko, created a business based on corruption proceeds received during his work in the office of the presidential envoy in the Southern Federal District from 2001 to 2004.
In addition to Andrei Korovayko himself, 32 companies are defendants in the case, and another 70 companies are involved as third parties. The structure of the Pokrovsky concern includes crop and livestock farms, elevators and sugar factories, trading and service companies. The concern controls 242 thousand hectares of land worth 67 billion rubles; Pokrovsky’s business is estimated at 100 billion rubles.
Andrei Korovayko is wanted; criminal cases have been initiated against him for fraud, extortion, etc. The management of the concern does not recognize the claims of the Prosecutor General’s Office, claiming that Andrei Korovayko’s business was created without using his official position.
