The Moscow Arbitration Court ordered Google LLC and Google LLC to restore access to viewing nine REN TV YouTube channels. The plaintiff in the case was LLC “Accept” (TV channel REN TV), the decision of the court accepted February 9th.
The court ordered the restoration of user access to the following YouTube channels:
- REN TV. “News”;
- “Documentary Projects”. REN TV;
- “Ministry of Transport”. REN TV;
- “Territory of delusions”. REN TV;
- “How the World Works”. REN TV;
- “A military secret”. REN TV;
- “Live Broadcasts”. REN TV;
- “NII REN TV”;
- “Unknown History”. REN TV.
In case of non-execution of the court decision, 100 thousand rubles will be recovered from Google and Google LLC in favor of Accept LLC. per day, the penalty will grow every week, but its total amount cannot exceed 1 billion rubles. The court also decided to recover from Google and Google LLC the costs of paying the state duty in the amount of 12 thousand rubles, the decision can be appealed within a month from the date of its adoption by the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal.
Since the start of the military operation, a number of Russian media resources have been blocked on YouTube, some of which have been challenged. In October 2022, the court obliged Google to unblock YouTube channels of VGTRK and Moscow Media. In November the court appointed Google forfeit up to 1 billion rubles. for refusing to unblock NTV on YouTube.
