The court invalidated the sale of Podium Market to the Stockmann chain

The Moscow Arbitration Court, in the framework of the bankruptcy case of the Atlas investment and production company (formerly Podium Market), invalidated the deal to sell it to the Stockmann chain, a subsidiary of the Finnish retailer Stockmann. As follows from the materials of the court, Stockmann must pay 1.69 billion rubles to the company. At the same time, as the publication notes, in 2017 the network acquired the company’s assets for 105.3 million rubles. In 2017, Stockmann acquired Podium Market’s inventory and equipment, the right to use the company’s trademarks, as well as four retail outlets located in Moscow (European and Fashion Season shopping centers), Kazan (Pushkinsky business center) and Krasnodar (Shopping Center “Oz Mall”).
In May 2012, Podium Market was declared bankrupt due to difficulties in issuing payments to counterparties. By 2017, counterparties filed claims against the company in the amount of more than 1 billion rubles. After the deal was concluded in December 2018, the former owner of Podium Market, Eduard Kitsenko, accused Stockmann of violating the terms of the brand buyout, as the chain refused to develop the company’s stores.
