The court fined Wikimedia 800,000 rubles for not removing prohibited content

The magistrate of the judicial district of the Tagansky district of Moscow fined the American platform Wikimedia Foundation 800,000 rubles. for refusing to remove materials with prohibited information on the territory of the Russian Federation, Vedomosti correspondent reports.

“Recognize the Wikimedia Foundation Inc. guilty of an administrative offense, under Part. 2 Article. 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (failure to remove prohibited content), and impose an administrative fine on him in the amount of 800,000 rubles,” Judge Timur Vakhremeev announced the decision.

From the materials read out in court, it follows that we are talking about the publication of an article and a video about catching: in the frame there is a first-person shot in which an unknown citizen rides on the roof of a freight train. In addition, as the court explained, before drawing up a protocol regarding the service, a notification was sent about limited access to information based on the decision on the cases of Rosmolodezh on the recognition of information aimed at inducing or otherwise involving minors, committing unlawful acts that pose a threat to their lives, health and other persons, recognition of information, the dissemination of which is prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation. After 13 such notices, Wikimedia filed an administrative offense report.
