A magistrate in Moscow imposed an administrative fine of 1.5 million rubles. to the Wikimedia Foundation for not removing a video containing hook propaganda from Wikipedia. The Wikimedia Foundation was found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, reports Interfax.
Wikimedia’s defense requested that the proceedings be terminated, explaining this, among other things, by procedural violations committed during the proceedings. According to the case file, the video, which was considered propaganda of the hookers movement, was found on Wikipedia by Rosmolodezh.
This is the 11th fine that Wikimedia received in 2023 for not deleting information. The total amount of fines is 17.4 million rubles.
In April, a court fined Wikimedia 800 thousand rubles for not deleting the hooking video, on 1.5 million rubles for not deleting information about the military operation, on 2 million rubles for not removing the article about the military unit. In June, the fund was fined for 3 million rubles. The reason was the requirement of Roskomnadzor to remove the article “Russian occupation of the Kharkiv region.”
