The Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal postponed consideration of Rosneft’s complaint (MOEX: ROSN) on the decision to reject her claim against Transneft (MOEX: TRNFP) on November 20, Prime reported with reference to the file of cases. The reasons for postponing the trial are unknown. In August, consideration of Rosneft’s appeal was postponed to October. The case is being considered behind closed doors.
In 2019, oil contaminated with chlorides entered the Druzhba pipeline system. Transneft later reported that it had paid compensation to the victims and settled the consequences of the incident.
At the same time, Rosneft asked to recover from Transneft $120.9 million, €47.6 thousand, £5.5 thousand, 73.9 million Polish zlotys and 3.4 billion rubles. (total more than 11 billion rubles). Thus, the company demanded compensation for Rosneft’s losses, including those related to the claims of Total, Trafigura and the Mozyr Oil Refinery. In December 2022, the court rejected the company’s claim.
As Kommersant reported in early September, the parties agreed that Rosneft will be able to receive compensation from Transneft for losses of its foreign clients by the end of May 2025, if they are proven, but the maximum amount will not exceed $15 per barrel.
