“The club opened with projects from three different artists of Askeri Gallery” – Kommersant FM

Kommersant FM columnist Dmitry Butkevich talks about the project of sisters Polina and Angelina Askeri.

In the very center of Moscow, in the Patriarchal district, a new multifunctional cultural space Askeri Club has opened. It was opened by the Askeri sisters – Polina, a gallery owner and collector, and Angelina, an interior designer.

The space is very large – almost 700 meters, three levels, occupies exactly half of the famous apartment building P.A. Skopnik built in 1906, on the corner of Vspolny Lane and Spiridonovka.

According to Polina, a wide variety of activities from different cultural spheres, both commercial and charitable, are planned here:

“Askeri Club is a synthesis of art, design, business, innovation, beauty and fashion. That is, I want Askeri Club to become a place of power in the very heart of Moscow. A place where people can come not just to look at the works of world-famous artists, but at the same time listen to interesting lectures and performances.

We will also organize interesting dinner parties. It is planned that every day some event will take place here, always different, in order to give people the opportunity to simply be nourished both emotionally and spiritually.”

And, in fact, the club opened with projects from three different Askeri Gallery artists. This is the Spaniard Juan Antonio Palacios with his completely new project, which has not yet been shown anywhere. Palacios, by the way, flew to Moscow for the first time for the opening.

The second author was South Korean Kwan Yong Chan.

And as the pinnacle of the entire composition are large-format works by the most famous Russian author, world-renowned nonconformist artist Yuri Kuper.

As Polina said, she specifically thought out the concept of geographical art connections: West-East and Russia in the center. By the way, and this is a source of special pride for the gallery owner, she has entered into an exclusive agreement with Cooper and will represent the artist in Moscow and St. Petersburg from September. This is a huge rarity for Russia!
