The Bank of Russia will present modernized banknotes in denominations of 1,000 and 5,000 rubles in the summer of 2023. According to Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Sergei Belov, the new banknotes will have an improved security system, which will help to avoid counterfeiting.
“The upgraded banknotes will have an improved design, an improved security complex, and high wear resistance. Modernization will provide reliable protection against counterfeiting and improve the quality of banknotes in circulation,” Sergey Belov said at a meeting of credit organizations with the Central Bank (quoted from TASS).
In the summer of 2022, Sergei Belov said that the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, the building of the Nizhny Novgorod Fair, and the Nizhny Novgorod stadium could be depicted on a 1000-ruble banknote. On 5000-ruble, according to Mr. Belov, Sevastyanov’s house, the Ural Range, a panoramic view of Yekaterinburg will probably appear.
Central Bank in spring 2021 announced modernization of banknotes in denominations of 10, 50, 100, 500, 1000 and 5000 rubles. On their front side, they planned to depict objects located in the capitals of the federal districts, and on the back – the sights of these districts.
