Half of the banks that were included in the first pilot group have already completed user testing of transfers between individuals using the digital ruble. This is stated in the annual report Central Bank.
“Eight out of 15 credit institutions — participants in the first pilot group — have completed user testing of transfers between individuals (C2C) on a prototype platform and demonstrated the functionality of the digital ruble in their mobile applications,” the Central Bank’s annual report says.
In addition, now the Central Bank platform implements transfer services between individuals and legal entities, as well as self-executing one-time and regular transfers between individuals.
As First Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov said today at a meeting between the President and the government, it is also planned to carry out operations with digital currencies on the stock exchange and with the participation of brokers. The introduction of the digital ruble will end in 2023.
How informed Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market Anatoly Aksakov, the law on the issuance and circulation of the digital ruble will be adopted in April, and will come into force in May. The amendments give the Bank of Russia the authority to create and manage the infrastructure for the operation of a new form of national currency. According to forecasts, the digital ruble will enter consumer circulation by 2030.
