The Bank of Russia plans to start publishing forecasts for the ruble exchange rate in the first half of 2024. It became known in May that the regulator would consider publishing a range of expectations for the ruble exchange rate as part of its medium-term forecast. Now the Central Bank publishes 24 indicators as part of the macroeconomic forecast, it does not yet provide expectations for the ruble exchange rate.
“These are the new initiatives, they will be implemented in the first half of next year. Accordingly, both in terms of expanding the indicators in the forecast, and in terms of other ideas, ”said Alexei Zabotkin, Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia, at a press conference when asked about the Central Bank’s plans to publish a forecast for the ruble exchange rate (quote from RIA Novosti).
Now, as part of the forecast, the regulator publishes such indicators as GDP, inflation, average annual key rate indicators and the cost of Urals oil, as well as lending indicators.
Earlier today, August 11, the dollar exceeded 99 rub. on the Moscow Exchange, the euro traded above 109 rubles. Chairman of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina, speaking about the weakening of the national currency, statedthat the reason for this lies in the changes in the dynamics of foreign trade and the growing budget deficit.
