First Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia Olga Skorobogatova said that within four to five years the share of non-cash payments in retail trade could reach 80-85%. According to her, in 2022 the share of such payments was 78.1%, contactless transactions – 74%. She noted that the number of transactions through the fast payment system has quadrupled over the year.

“I think that on the horizon of about four or five years we will reach the figure, in terms of non-cash transactions in retail trade, somewhere up to 80-85%, judging by the trend that we have,” said Ms. Skorobogatova on Forum “Cybersecurity in Finance” (quote from “Prime”).

Earlier, the Central Bank reported that in 2022 the volume of cash in circulation increased by 16%, to 2 trillion rubles. At the same time, Russians also began to spend less, preferring to save money.
