The Central Bank (CB) does not intend to set restrictions on the use of the digital ruble. This was announced by the director of the department of the national payment system of the Central Bank Alla Bakina.
“There are no restrictions, and it makes no sense to introduce them. We do not plan to install them,” Ms. Bakina said at the Digital Ruble webinar (quoted from TASS).
The law on the digital ruble was introduced to the State Duma in 2022. The law passed its first reading only in mid-March, and by the second it had undergone major changes. The final version of the law by President Vladimir Putin signed in July.
Central Bank installed tariffs for transactions with digital rubles, which can be carried out using digital wallets in banking mobile applications. Operations with digital ruble started in August. Central Bank plans give foreign banks access to the digital ruble.
