The car market grew in April – Kommersant

The market for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles grew by 70.6% in April, according to the Association of European Businesses (AEB). Growth is mainly due to the low base of the beginning of the crisis, and only domestic brands and brands from China show positive sales dynamics.

Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in April increased by 70.6%, to 54.3 thousand vehicles, follows from AEB data. This is the first month that sales have shown positive year-on-year growth since the crisis began. A month before the sale fell by 10.6%.

The market is rising on a low base in 2022 – the trend will continue into the next month, since last May was the lowest result in this crisis.

At the same time, sales of brands not from the Russian Federation and China still remain in the red – the AEB takes into account only official deliveries, which have not been resumed by most of the market.

At the same time, Chinese brands, on the contrary, show active growth in April against the backdrop of a low base. So, sales of Haval grew by 805%, up to 7.4 thousand cars, Geely – by 1312%, up to 6.1 thousand cars, Changan – 722%, up to 2.1 thousand cars, Great Wall – by 1625% , up to 949 pieces, FAW – by 509%, up to 743 pieces. Market bestseller AvtoVAZ increased sales by 225% to 27.6 thousand units. Sales of GAZ (4 thousand cars) and UAZ (2.4 thousand cars) increased by 112% and 45% respectively. 521 cars were sold under the Sollers brand last month. The only Korean brand in the top 10 was Kia, whose sales fell by 71% to 1.3 thousand cars.

The monthly data does not take into account the sales of BMW and Mercedes-Benz, as well as Chery and its other brands (Omoda, Exeed), since they report only quarterly.

Recallaccording to Avtostat, which takes into account data from Chery Group, as well as parallel imports, the market for passenger cars alone in April grew 2.7 times, to 75.6 thousand units.
