The box office of “The Master and Margarita” exceeded 2 billion rubles – Kommersant

The film “The Master and Margarita,” directed by Mikhail Lokshin, grossed more than 2 billion rubles, according to data from the Unified Automated Information System (UAIS) Cinema Fund. The film became the highest-grossing among works rated “18+.”

The film was released on January 25. The film became the third whose box office since the beginning of 2024 exceeded 2 billion rubles. Prior to this, the films “Kholop-2” by Klim Shipenko and “The Musicians of Bremen” by Alexei Nazhny surpassed the mark. The budget of “The Master and Margarita” is 1.2 billion rubles.

After the release of The Master and Margarita, interest in Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel of the same name increased fivefold. Book service “Litres” reportedthat the work topped the monthly top sales in February.
