A record number of book premieres is expected at the Non/fiction No. 25 fair. The exhibition will run in Gostiny Dvor from November 30 to December 2, and 340 publishing houses, bookstores and cultural institutions will take part in it. In total, more than 300 events are planned, including presentations of books by artist Mikhail Shemyakin and writer Evgeny Vodolazkin, as well as new works by Pavel Basinsky and Yuri Rost.

The fair program also included practical master classes for guests, says book reviewer Valery Shabashov:

“There will be many interesting new books at the Non/fiction No. 25 exhibition in 2023. Ian McEwan, Liu Cixin, and Dina Rubina will present their works. As for the program, there is a lot to see. There will be many meetings with writers.

Some publishers organized something like a master class on how to get into their pool of authors, and what needs to be done for this. Others will tell you how to make a podcast. Every year they choose topics that will interest the audience.”

Starting this year, the Non/fiction No. 25 fair is held twice a year: in spring and autumn. In the wake of last year’s success, when the event was attended by a record 43 thousand people, the organizers decided to open the second stage in April. At the upcoming exhibition, the organizers placed emphasis, including on the anniversary of Nikolai Nosov, said Vitaly Kogtev, a member of the fair’s organizing committee:

“As always, we will have a collective stand of the Independent Alliance. These are small publishing houses offering rare but very good books. In 2023 there will be more than 50 participants. For the first time, the fair will host the History Pavilion, a large-scale special project that combines a shopping area and a lecture hall.

The retail space presents a variety of historical works, and in the lecture room you can listen to a course of lectures on Ancient Rome and watch digital copies of Russian film classics from the collections of the State Film Fund.

An exhibition has been organized for the 115-year-old Nikolai Nikolayevich Nosov, our favorite children’s writer, which will feature illustrations for his books from different years performed by the best domestic artists. There will also be meetings with authors, presentations of new books, and discussions on current topics. The children’s area will also host master classes and quest games.”

The international fair Non/fiction has been held annually in Moscow since 1999. Previously, it was held in the Central House of Artists, but in 2019 it moved to Gostiny Dvor.
