The bankruptcy trustee of Google LLC demanded that Google International return 10 billion rubles paid by the Russian company in 2021 in the form of dividends and taxes. The manager Valery Talyarovsky sent a corresponding application to the Moscow Arbitration Court on April 10. Drew attention to this Interfax.

According to the document, published on Fedresurs, on December 22, 2021, Russian Google transferred dividends in the amount of $128.7 million (RUB 9.5 billion as of the date of payment) to Google International LLC. The payment was made despite the fact that the financial condition of the Russian company “met the criteria of insolvency, and there were claims from independent creditors, which were subsequently included in the register of claims.”

According to Mr. Talyarovsky, dividends were paid from profits received for 2015–2017, and this amount corresponds to 32% of the book value of the LLC’s assets at the end of 2020. “The defendant made a decision to distribute profits and further transfer funds in his favor, not only knowing about the damage to the property rights of creditors as a result of these actions, but also intentionally seeking this,” the statement said.

In 2022, the Russian division of Google went to court to declare it bankrupt. The arbitration court introduced initial bankruptcy proceedings against Google LLC. In January 2024, bailiffs recovered with Google two turnover fines in the amount of 29 billion rubles. This week the Moscow City Court approved the company’s third turnover fine of 4.6 billion rubles.
