The Ministry of Information and Social Development of Kazakhstan has decided to block the website of the Russian TV channel Tsargrad. The reason for this decision is the repeated placement on the portal of materials that the Kazakh authorities regard as “propaganda of extremism.”
In the “Check site” section on portal The Ministry of Information of Kazakhstan states that the website of the TV channel is blocked for “propaganda of extremism.” It also states that earlier the authorities of the republic issued four official instructions at once against Tsargrad – the last of them concerned the article published on the channel’s website “Kazakh nationalists terrorize Russian women on the eve of Victory Day.” The rest of the instructions issued to Tsargrad also concerned the publication of materials that mention “Kazakh nationalists.”
According to the Kazakh edition Ordaat the moment the Tsargrad website is completely blocked in all regions of the republic.
The management of the Tsargrad TV channel has not yet commented on the information about the blocking of its website in Kazakhstan.
The Tsargrad TV channel was founded in 2015 by Russian billionaire deputy head of the World Russian People’s Cathedral Konstantin Malofeev. “Tsargrad” positions itself as “the first Russian conservative information and analytical TV channel.”
In 2020, Youtube video hosting blocked the account of the Tsargrad TV channel without the possibility of recovery. The reason was the observance by the service of the sanctions imposed by the US authorities against Mr. Malofeev and Tsargrad itself. Konstantin Malofeev, after blocking his media channel, sued the Russian subsidiary of Google demanding to restore access to the account.
