The founders of the Chelyabinsk Electrometallurgical Plant (CHEMK), Yuri and Lyudmila Antipov, filed an appeal against the decision of the Sverdlovsk Arbitration Court to transfer the group’s assets into state ownership. February 26 Arbitration Court of the Sverdlovsk Region satisfied lawsuit by the Prosecutor General’s Office regarding the transfer of shares in the plants of the ChEMK group into state ownership. According to the supervisory authority, the privatization carried out in the 1990s was illegal, since it required permission from the Russian government. The prosecutor’s office argued that the enterprises came under the control of residents of unfriendly states, and their products were exported at a reduced cost to the United States and Europe. According to Interfax, Mr. Antipov on the same day handed over recognizance not to leave.
