American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced nominees for the 96th Academy Awards. The leader in the number of nominations was “Oppenheimer”.
Christopher Nolan’s drama is up for 13 awards, including the Best Film category. Also up for best film are “Barbie,” “Anatomy of a Fall,” “American Fiction,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “The Leftovers,” “Past Lives,” “The Unfortunate,” “Maestro” and “Zone of Interest.”
The Oscars are awarded in 24 categories. The winners receive a figurine in the form of a figure of a knight holding a sword and standing on a reel of film, the five spokes of which symbolize the very first guilds of the academy: actors, directors, producers, film technicians and screenwriters.
The nominees for best leading actor are Cillian Murphy for Oppenheimer, Bradley Cooper for Maestro, Colman Dolmingo for Rustin, Paul Giamatti for The Leftovers, and Jeffrey Wright for American Fantasy. Nominees for the title of best actress in a leading role are Annette Bening for “Diana Naked,” Lily Gladstone for “Killers of the Flower Moon,” Sandra Hüller for “Anatomy of a Fall,” Carey Mulligan for “Maestro,” and Emma Stone for “The Lost and Lost.”
Among the cartoons, the nominees were “The Boy and the Heron” by Hayao Miyazaki and Toshio Suzuki, “Elemental” by Pixar, “Nimona”, “Robot Dreams”, “Spider-Man: Web of Universes”.
The film award winners will be announced on March 10. The awards will take place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. The ceremony will be hosted by American comedian and TV presenter Jimmy Kimmel for the fourth time.
