Seventeen-year-old Russian Dmitry Pinchuk won the 8th Adolphe Sax Saxophone Competition, according to the competition website. This event is considered the most prestigious among saxophonists.

This year the competition took place from October 31 to November 11. 264 contestants from 19 countries took part in it. Six reached the finals – three from Russia, two from Japan and one from Italy.
The competition is named after the inventor of the saxophone and is held every four years in the Belgian city of Dinan, the musician’s homeland. The music competition has been held since 1994. During this time, two Russian musicians became laureates: in 2006 – Sergei Kolesov, in 2014 – Nikita Zimin.
