At the end of November, at the suggestion of the State Duma, the Accounts Chamber initiated an audit of the activities of Russian Post JSC in the period from 2020 to 2023 inclusive. About it “Vedomosti” said a representative of the Accounts Chamber.

The audit will take place independently of the audit of the Federal Treasury, the publication’s interlocutor clarified. The results of the audit of the Accounts Chamber are planned to be provided in the second half of 2024.

How reported Vedomosti, at the end of November, the Federal Treasury at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Property presented the results of the audit, according to which the preliminary “size of negative impact” on the company’s financial performance for the past year was estimated at 24.5 billion rubles. The inspection took place at the initiative of Russian Post.

According to the results of the audit, “internal reasons for the group’s unprofitability, which were the result of management decisions,” were discovered, according to the report. The Treasury concluded that some of these decisions were “ineffective” and proposed establishing external control over the implementation of the Russian Posts financial recovery plan until 2025.

In 2022, Russian Post received a loss of 30.4 billion rubles. The company’s debt amounted to 133 billion rubles, while most of it “has no source of return or repayment,” said CEO Mikhail Volkov. Russian Post is trying to find mechanisms to reduce losses, and one of the ideas was an “infrastructure fee” from marketplaces, but market participants opposed it.
